A position system at that time and social conditions are reflected.

Fuji is seen far away much.

"Onden" is around Harajuku in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo today.

In old times, Harajuku, that is "City" now, was farm areas.

At that time, a lot of water mills existed in the beautiful Shibuya river.

Men who carry heavy bag with grain up to saw powder.

Women are washing.

Child is playing with turtle.

The life feeling with a stout farm village is expressed.

The expression of "Water" that begins to overflow from the water mill and flows to the waterway mightily is excellent.

Hokusai06 Under the Fukagawa Mannen-Bridge(深川万年橋下) / Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (富嶽三十六景) by Katsushika Hokusai

Fukagawa Mannen (myriad year) bridge spans the point where the Onagi-river(canal that Ieyasu Tokugawa ordered to Shirobe Onagi to excavated in around 1590) that flows in Edo Fukagawa joins Sumidagawa.

The building of both shores is drawn by the seeing through perspective of the West style of painting.

The arc and the bridge girder in the arched bridge where the both shores are connected produce a geometrical composition.

Fuji soars in the other side of the bridge girder when you see the direction that bows of the ship in this side indicate.

There is a town in Edo behind a large roof of "Honganji(本願寺)", and Mt. Fuji soars in a distance greatly.

The height of the aspect is put on the same with the tile workmen on the roof.

The haze is broken through, the tower and the kite expand in the sky, and the height of the sky is expressed well by deep indigo blue.

The "Honganji(本願寺)" was built as "Kozuiji(光瑞寺) in 1591.

It moved to Asakusa after the big fire of Meireki(明暦) that occurred in 1657, and it came to be called, "Honganji" afterwards.

It is scenery of the Kanda Surugadai known as a town in the prepschool now.

It seems that this vicinity lines with old samurai residences, and Mt. Fuji seen from the height was beautiful at that time.

Green of trees and blue of the sky favor white in Fuji further.

Maybe, I think around here it now.
